You-Turn Project Support Groups
Call 310.644.9500 ext. 702
Pre-Registration is required for all Groups.
You have three groups to choose from:
1) Stress Management Support Group
2 Recession Support Group
3) Anger Management (Accepted for court, business, and personal requirements)
Anger is a secondary emotion, which is used to cope with feelings of vulnerability, pain, hurt, and fear. Anger is expressed inwards – depression, substance abuse, cutting or outward – physical and verbal aggression. Those coping with anger management issues have learned they are victims of other’s behaviors and feel they must compensate and be the aggressor so they will not be re-victimized. Other times anger is expressed passively (passive aggressive behavior) or displaced (road rage).
ANGER MANAGEMENT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (pdf).
Step one: Registration / Assessment / Intake for ALL SUPPORT GROUPS
Each student must complete an intake assessment to determine which Support Group would be the most beneficial. Intake / Assessment will also be utilized to determine if a student is able to engage in the group process. If a student is not ready for a group setting, placement in the group can be detrimental to everyone involved. This process will allow for successful group matching and maximize the benefit of the interventions.
Each group sessions consist of 5-9 individuals to ensure that each student has the opportunity to participate. Group provides a psycho-education element, which is used as a venue to practice new behaviors and receive feedback from others. These programs are designed to serve as a framework for our Anger Management Program. It allows for open entry and customizable services, which could result in the modification of the total number of group/ individual, sessions offered. Pre-registration is required for all groups. 48-hour cancellation is required for all sessions or you will forfeit session time & fees paid.
Program #1: 10-hour Support Group
