Independent Living Skills Instructor
Work Activities: Facilitate Independent Living workshops in high school classrooms, residential treatment centers and foster family agencies. This includes lesson planning, intake assessments, service coordination & case management between YTP and training site. Instruction will be based on company’s curriculum and you report directly to our Director of Education. Attend agency-required meetings. There is ample contact with the community at-large, including media, program alumni, parents and political leaders associated with this position. There are also member organization meetings in your area of instruction where attendance will be required.
Education: Bachelors degree from accredited 4-year university. Masters Degree or Teaching Credential Preferred.
Work experience: Minimum of three years teaching high school students and young adults. Previous experience working with transitioning youth in an independent living capacity a plus. Microsoft Office Proficient. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Organized, punctual, proactive and self-starter qualities are required. Must demonstrate good boundaries with students and maintain the teacher-student relationship. Our clients have enough friends we are looking for a role model and teacher.
Work Location: Sites located in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange and San Bernadino Counties.
Physical Demands: Lifting of course materials. Must be able to pull cirriculum cart / materials. Bending and facilitation of Community field trips with students.
Hours: School Hours of Operation 8am-3pm. Assigned class times may be 8am-10am or 10-12pm or 12-2pm.Evening Classes: 5:30p-7:30p or 7pm-9pm. TBA. Multiple classes are available depending on the client.
