It was my own experience transitioning out of my parent's home, along with my background in social services and helping teens and young adults, that inspired the creation of the You-Turn Project®. Since its founding over six years ago, the You-Turn Project® is committed to helping the next generation of students prepare for independent living.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, daily living skills training to the general public. Our vision is to assist in creating a world where people plan ahead and take responsibility for their actions. Our clients will learn how to manage their time more efficiently, respectfully communicate their needs and proactively manage their personal finances. In addition, our goal is to assist parents in raising their children to become healthy, well-rounded, productive citizens that give back to the community. We accomplish this goal, one client at a time, with our training program & the support of our staff, volunteers, interns, corporate sponsors, donors, and community partners. Our hands-on approach to instruction meets the needs of students with a variety educational backgrounds.
When I started college, I was tempted by all of the “freebies” - free t-shirts, water bottles, gym memberships - used to lure students into applying for a credit card. Unfortunately, after graduation I found myself living paycheck to paycheck, feeling frustrated because I could never get ahead. I thought, “Living on your own is rough.” You are forced to make so many decisions and deal with the outcome, without the tools to know if you have made the right choices. These lessons were learned the hard way and the next generation could benefit from knowing them in advance. The best investment a person can make is in each other. Human beings are the most precious natural resource.
On behalf of each You-Turn Project® employee, thank you for inquiring about our services. It is our hope that you will utilize the You-Turn Project in your school districts, community service organizations and your families.
